I'm running for the State Representative in the 25th District. Three of my top priorities are:
1-Education Reform
2-Fiscal Responsibility
3-Balanced Values
Education in Delaware has been a terrible return on our investment, and a tragic fail for our children.
Measured by Forbes, Delaware is one of the worst 5 States for overall grade level achievement scores, but in the top 5 for spending per pupil.
For 8th grade math proficiency, we only have 18% doing math at grade level. That's worse than four our of every 5 students
failing to achieve 8th grade math. How are they going to succeed at life, much less
be able to persue a valuable STEM field?
The answer is not just more money, we are already spending over $16,300
per student. If we had school vouchers, that would cover the tuition of just about any private school.
We also can't just let the public schools keep failing, so we have to make substantive changes.
Trim away non-core fluff until our results are commensurate with our spending. Cut the massively bloated administrative positions and push funding into the classroom. Imagine how many more really great teachers we could attract and develop if we give them better pay, and the freedom to focus more on actual learning.
Fiscal responsibility has left Delaware. We currently have a multi-billion dollar surplus, much of it from
Covid funds, and the Democrats are working on ways to spend, rather than cut taxes and return that money to the taxpayers.
After decades of single-party rule, they would love a supermajority that could allow them to get rid of our requirement for a balanced budget. We need to keep that from happening, or Delaware will join the list of failed states like California, New York, and Illinois.
Thirdly, we need to keep balanced policies, not just focus on the most liberal and radical ideas from the left. The Representative of the 25th District needs to serve the people in the Newark area, not the whims of the Democrat party. What the local voters need is not always going to align with the radical left, but that is what we are getting right now. Let's vote for more fiscally responsible and educationally sound policies, which is a vote for David Hansberger!
